Where Should a Real Estate Agent Start in Social Media?

by Katie Lance

August 10, 2011  |  Next TV

I recently interviewed Bob Watson, VP Atlantic & Pacific Real Estate. Bob is a working agent and broker, and knows first-hand the importance of having a social media marketing plan.

How can you become the local expert? How do you leverage Twitter and Facebook but not talk about real estate all the time? Where do you start in social media?

Bob shares some great tips and examples any agent can use and implement into their business immediately.

I’d love your thoughts and comments – please leave me your feedback below!

The SWOT analysis is a great tool that I have thought about since my MBA. I will certainly do this and have other agents in my brokerage, as well. Also, I loved the Hub & Spoke reference. I creates a visual picture for my plan. Great info…thanks!

Photos are a good idea; also linking other materials that people would find interesting and then including your url in the comment area, etc. Link juice works wonders.

I think you can have 2 twitter accounts, one for person issues and another for business.

I started compiling the list of the best deals for investors in my area, and sharing them publicly on a blog instead of just my clients. It will either get more business or create competition haha.

I just wonder if this idea would fit all market?
If we speak about high-end market, penthouses which cost avg. above $1.5mill, the market will not be somebody who plays with Facebook I suppose? They would be the ones who are not even familiar with these whole ideas of Social Media Networking (correct me if I’m wrong). Any idea how to approach this niche market?
