    Hey Chris,

The heat map tracks eye-movement not clicks.

So it is a graphical representation of what parts of the page people look at the most, not click.

I don’t disagree with your suggestions at all, but the problem becomes with BRANDED Facebook Pages (which you suggest we use as our employer). If you have more than 100 Likes, you can’t change that branding. I found out the hard way when I merged my Bee Realty firm with another firm. Hence why I set up a more or less UNBRANDED page (Outdoor Lori on FB). I do fully disclose my agency, as per law, but I am hesitant to again set up a Business Page with another company’s branding, until FB allows me to change it, as necessary. Agents are very transient with company alliances these days. I had a pretty good biz page for my old company and put a lot of effort into it, to not be able to transfer that branding when I switched. And oh, my name could also possibly change someday too (being female). Just some things to think about…

Also I have a bit of an issue with making it easier for non-friends to see my contact info with my profile pic. Security is a concern. Yes I want to generate leads, but not … leads with pervs. I don’t even put my pic on my business card anymore. I go back and forth on this, but these decisions are a little more difficult for women. Read #2 on this list http://safetyandsecuritysource.blogspot.com/2011/07/5-things-real-estate-agents-can-do.html . Thoughts & opinions appreciated.

While I have the link to my business page I found that my sub-categories were not correct! Things change so much on FB it is hard to keep up.

Thanks for the post Chris as otherwise I might not have looked at this and found the errors.

Happy to say, I caught and thought the same thing, all the contact info is buried at the bottom of the info page. I made many of the changes you recommend before I saw your video. I did get a few more excellent suggestions to share with Real Pro Virtual Marketing clients and going to tweak mine immediately!!

Great tips as usual Chris. I just noticed that my employer link was to a blank company page, not to my fan page. I’m sure I put that info in before I created my fan page. I was able to delete my existing employer info, and re-entered it and my fan page came up as I was typing. Thank you!

I have had the workplace done for awhile (love it) – great suggestion to share, BUT I didn’t have the “info” below populated right so thanks for remind me (awesome). I’m a bit turned off by the idea of excess of bus info via comments on the profile pic, but like the idea. I would rather see a hyperlink in the edited “photo information” that someone could click (if that makes sense) with perhaps a company mention. But bare minimum, as not everyone wants to see a billboard and I think it can work against you as a first impression to be yacking all that info in one spot. Again, just my opinion and maybe I’m misinterpreting your suggestion. I’m having visuals of agents doing three comments on their own photo making an obnoxious info overload scenario.

Loved this. It was refreshing to see “feel the heat”. I always think this information is so valueable. Seems like a no-duh, that every business person should tweak their profile per this video. What about Group Pages i.e. FB Business PAges? I’m assuming the same would apply? Thoughts…
    Keep fighting the good fight!

Chris, I saw the Mashable piece but didn’t know how to explain the importance of it to my sphere; thanks for boiling it down and making it practical. I was horrified to discover that my employer link is leading to the “community page” that has hardly any likes. So i’m trying to figure out how to kill/merge it. Moved my contacts as you advised. Hey, when are we going to get timelines?

    Excellent tips Chris.
I don’t mean to make this an advertisement, but our company also believes in the marketing and lead generation advantages of facebook.
We developed a facebook add-on that would allow a purchaser to click on a button and call an agent’s cell phone, right from your facebook page.

I’d like to see a similar blog post that shows how to optimize an agents company (fan) page.

    Keep it up Chris!
